The Gals Behind Hart Country

Well, hello and welcome to Hart Country.  We are Rae & Jess, two friends who dreamed up this business inspired from the historic Hart Store in Hart, MN, which closed a few decades ago.  

Wanting to bring back a modern version of the the old country store, the two friends teamed up to hold occasional seasonal sales as Hart Country Market.

Jess has been promoting her family’s black angus beef for a number of years on a direct to consumer basis through farmers markets and word of mouth.  With a passion for making quality local beef available to others, Jess dreamed of a creating a farm store as a place to find just that.  

Rae’s creative side has been fueled by her side gig, Pretty Rusty Things, taking primitive salvaged pieces and breathing new, pretty life into them.  

Both gals having kids active in local 4-H clubs and FFA chapters, they featured theirs and other local kids’ projects and gave them a space to sell their creations.

Fast forward, as both gals’ families are long time angus beef producers, it was a natural fit that they branched out into Hart Country Meats.  Their creative sides and knowledge of beef, as well as pork and other meats, made for a great pairing.

While they have a small retail location on Jess’s farm, the gals are focusing on sales online with local delivery and shipping, with the option for in person shopping by appointment.
