Almond & Toffee Sandies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. orange extract
2 large eggs
4 1/2 cup  flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt ( scant)
3 tbsp. orange zest
2 cups sliced almonds
2 cups English toffee bits
Preheat oven to 350°
 Combine the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in a bowl and set aside.
In mixer bowl, beat butter, oil and sugars.
Beat in extracts.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
 Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix til well combined.
Stir in zest, almonds and toffee bits.
 Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, spacing 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.  (Our favorite baking sheet are NordicWare brand.)
Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
Cool on sheet for a minute or two, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
